Patrick Harris has developed a very effective method for teaching his system of horsemanship. You, too, can learn his unique, intuitive, and simple way of engaging safely with horses of all breeds and types.
Patrick has trained and ridden countless horses, of just about every breed, type and discipline. He has trained horses for inexperienced riders and for some of Australiaโs top horsemen.
Patrickโs unique methods of horsemanship are based on the concept that horses should be free to evolve and to be the best that they can be. We as humans should be able to nurture and foster this to take them to the next level.
He can help you reach a deeper and more effective connection and relationship with your horse. And ultimately achieve safety and success in your chosen discipline.
Keeping Horses Safe in an Emergency ๐ด๐ฅ When emergencies strikeโlike bushfiresโitโs not about forcing horses into a yard. Itโs about leading them with calm feel and clear purpose. In our latest video, I share some simple but life-saving tips: โ Walk or trot them inโdonโt let adrenaline take over. โ Create a safe space they trust, out in the open, away from heavy timber. โ Set up simple yards using electric fencing when needed. โ Prepare earlyโso when the pressureโs on, your horse knows where to go. Good horsemanship isnโt just about training for the perfect rideโitโs about being ready when it counts. Stay steady. Stay smart. Your horse will thank you for it. ๐ฅ Watch the full video to see how we handle it here at Patrick Harris Horsemanship (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHn11aHFcDc) ๐ If you found it helpful, ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ, ๐ณ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ผ๐, and ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ this post to help more horse owners stay safe and prepared. #PatrickHarrisHorsemanship #EmergencySafteyinHorsemanship #BuildingTrust #EmergencyHorsemanship #HorseSafety #BushfirePreparedness #RealWorldHorsemanship #StayReadyStaySafe

#SaturdayStorytellingHorsemanship ๐ด A while back, I was working with a gelding named Toby. Smart little fella, but pushy on the groundโalways crowding the space, tuning out, pulling against pressure. Now, years ago, I mightโve tried to โfixโ that with more gear or more pressure. But through the lens of Patrick Harris Horsemanship, Iโve learnt to ask: โWhatโs he trying to say?โ Because true horsemanship isnโt just about controlling the horseโitโs about understanding the moment. So instead of pushing back harder, I slowed things down. Broke the session into simple asks. Rewarded the smallest try. And gave Toby the time to figure out he didnโt need to be in control to feel safe. By the end of the week, the same horse that used to brace and barge was leading softly, waiting for direction, and even lowering his head the moment I stepped into the yard. No big blow-up, no gadgetsโjust feel, timing, and consistency. Thatโs the kind of horsemanship we stand for here. Not fast fixes, but real foundations. Not perfect pictures, but meaningful progress. Ready to dive deeper into this kind of horsemanship? Join us at Patrick Harris Horsemanship โwhere itโs not just about training horses, itโs about understanding them.๐ Whether you're starting out or fine-tuning years of experience, weโre here to help you grow with feel, purpose, and support.๐ #PatrickHarrisHorsemanship #HorsemanshipWithHeart #ProblemSolvingWithFeel #RealHorsesRealResults #ConnectionOverControl #TrustTheProcess #SaturdayStorytelling
Lest We Forget ๐บ๐ฆ๐บ Today, we pause to honour the brave men and women who servedโand continue to serveโour country. We also remember the horses, the unsung heroes of war, who carried our soldiers through the dust, the danger, and the distance. At Patrick Harris Horsemanship , weโre reminded that courage isnโt always loud. Sometimes, itโs quiet strength. Steadiness under pressure. Trust between matesโwhether two-legged or four. So today, we ride with gratitude. We stand still in silence. And we remember the sacrifices that shaped the freedom we enjoy. ๐ฟ Lest we forget. #ANZACDay #LestWeForget #PatrickHarrisHorsemanship #AustraliaRemembers #LightHorseLegacy #RideWithRespect #CourageAndConnection

So there I was, feeling confident. Had the groundwork gear in hand, hat on straight, and a plan in mind. Enter: one very opinionated pony. Goal? Yield the hindquarters. Result? Pony blinkedโฆ turned... and sat down. I stood there, rope in hand, thinking: โWell, that wasnโt in the manual.โ ๐คฆโโ๏ธ Turns out, she did know how to yieldโshe just also knew how to test her handler. So I laughed, reset, and this time led with softness, not just a checklist. She got up. Walked off. Worked like a dream. Lesson learned (by me): Itโs not just about what you askโitโs how you ask it. Even the cheeky ones have something to teach us.
